Would You Step On Avatar’s Pandora? This Place Is (un)Real!

This is not Pandora, the mythical alien planet from “Avatar”. The dazzling blue waters actually exist here on Earth, off the beaches of Tasmania.

The bioluminescent algae (scientific called Noctiluca Scintillans), also known as sea sparkle, glow when they are disturbed.

Scientists believe the flashing mechanism is deployed to scare off predators. But it also attracts many human admirers from around the world.

And as one Pandora wouldn’t be enough, this “sea sparkle” phenomenon is wide-spread all around the world.

Pandora Like Places

Here are other mystic places where you can encounter real sea sparkle:

Changle, East China

Hong Kong

Vaadhoo Island, Maldives
